...in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thess 5:18 (NKJV)
And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
John 11:41 (NKJV)
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Col 3:17 (NKJV)
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
Romans 1:8 (NKJV)
Are we grateful for everything? Do we for instance, look forward to trials? We should, because as hard as they may seem, they actually do bring us closer to God. This last verse, is really inspiring for me. Paul was praising the Christians in Rome that their faith was spoken of throughout the entire world. That's a big praise there. But see he wasn't trying to build himself up here; he was sincerely showing his thanks and appreciation to the Christian there for their tireless work for the gospel.
Are we sincerely desirous of the work of the gospel?
Are we grateful of trials?
Remember, God doesn't exist to make us miserable; He gives us trials so that we will love Him, and be able to serve Him and others better.
