Honor/Grumbling and Complaining

"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only…"

Phil 2:12 (NKJV)

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise:

That it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."

Eph 6:1-3 (NKJV)

When we are tempted to disobey or dishonor our parents, we need to have verses memorized and in our minds, to guard us against the temptation. Verses such as these four above, and any others that may help us. As one of my friends says, when we are tempted, we need to scream "NO!", in our minds. Saying that just reinforces our desire and commitment not to sin. So, when our mom or dad asks us to wash the dishes, take out the trash, or work in the garden; will we do it sweetly and cheerfully? Or will we grumble and complain? I'm not saying that all of us do that. Not all of us have a garden. Or have to take out the trash, if we live in a rural area, cause we'll just run by the dump. Most of us don't have to wash dishes either, if we have a dishwasher. Before you start thinking of me as a redneck since I don't have a dishwasher, let me tell you that I do. But there are other things that we have to do that we may not like doing.

"Do all things without complaining and disputing."

Phil 2:14 (NKJV)

"Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!"

James 5:9 (NKJV)

We had better be careful that we don't complain because the Lord hates it, and will judge us for it.
